School Programs

UIA NSW is active at local Jewish and non Jewish schools. Regular speaking engagements take place with our Shaliach Sagi Ben Yosef as well as guest speakers from Israel.

Mufti Days

Many schools now hold annual mufti or charity days for UIA.

These mufti days help to raise the student’s awareness of the UIA and the important work that we do

The ROOTS Project

The UIA has been successfully running “The UIA ROOTS Project” for the past nine years. This project requires students to trace their family history and discover interesting facts about their heritage. The ROOTS Project familiarizes the students with the UIA and strengthens their connection to Israel. They learn what it means to be part of the world-wide Jewish family. The project has been well received by the Jewish Day Schools and we are excited to see that more schools are including it as part of their curriculum.

Arava

In 1995 the Jewish Agency together with Keren Hayesod-UIA launched “Partnership 2000”. This program addresses two main challenges:

1. Developing priority areas in Israel such as: the Negev, Galilee and Jerusalem.

2. Building a living bridge between Israelis and Jews in the Diaspora to promote Jewish continuity and strengthening of the bond with Israel.

One of the special things about this program is the continued bond between the Youth in Australia and the Israeli Arava students. This is the essence of the partnership between Israel and world Jewry which is central to the work of the UIA. NSW School participants come from – Moriah College, Masada College, Emanuel School and BJE.
