General Division

The General Division forms the core fundraising arm of the United Israel Appeal strengthening Israel’s South supporting Israel’s most vulnerable populations - Youth at Risk, the Elderly and Olim through programmes such as:

Youth Futures – a one on one mentoring programme providing children and Youth at Risk based primarily in the periphery, help build self esteem and set goals for a brighter future – bringing them back from risk to opportunity!

Ayalim – the new generation of Zionists who live within and serve as agents of change in distressed areas.  These idealistic students bring about change to these underprivileged neighbourhoods through their care, support and development.

Aliyah & Absorption – the assistance and support provided to New Olim arriving in Israel is essential to fulfilling both their dreams and potential.  UIA is instrumental in the smooth integration, ensuring they become contributing members of Israeli society.

Net@ - from High Risk to High Tech – a four year, after school technological training programme for high school youth from Israel’s geographic and socio economic peripheries, enabling them to obtain international certification.

Fundraising in the General Division is focused on major Campaign events end February, early March each year.

A broad section of the Jewish community attend, representing a specific market segment of men and women from all walks of life,  all professions including Business & Professional, Health and Legal, aged between  35 -120, residing in suburban Sydney - North to East and South to West as well as  the ACT.

Young Families is a new initiative of the General Division, catering for families with children from new born to the end of primary school.   Events are family oriented – organised at a time and place suitable for this demographic.

Aside from our annual Campaign functions we hold several Boardroom Lunches throughout the year as well as coffee evenings on the East and North to raise the awareness of Israel and the work of the UIA.

Our UIA Senior’s Social Club is held monthly on the East and the North. Over 60 members of our community meet over morning tea and hear about the current situation in Israel.

The UIA ROOTS Project has been adopted by several schools. Participating students trace back their family history and discover facts about their heritage and also self reflect on their personal connection to Israel.
